The city of Delhi is one of the known historical cities of India. Being the capital of the nation as well as witness of a number of battles and events, it attracts tourists from almost all the corners of the world. Here are some of the spots that one must visit while being on a trip to Delhi.
1. Lodhi Garden:
Lodhi Garden is located in Delhi which is looked upon as an architectural piece of Lodhis. It was made during the times of pashtun Muslim dynasty; the Lodhi’s who ruled the entire North India during the 16th century. This garden is located on Lodhi Road, which connects the Safdarjung’s tomb and the Khan Market. The garden is an architectural piece of the two periods and is protected by the Archeological Survey of India (ASI). It is often used by the locals for jogging and morning walks and is a great and a peaceful place to visit in Delhi.
2. India Gate:
India Gate is located at the center of Old Delhi and is a 42 m high Gate in the middle of a road. This Gate commemorates the 70,000 soldiers who lost their life fighting for India in World War I. India Gate was built by the Duke of Connaught and was designed by a foreign architect. The Gate was later added with the memorial of Amar Jawan Jyoti, and the flame is eternal as it is burnt day and night as a reminder to our nation about the soldiers that fought for us. At night it is lit by lights and looks beautiful surrounded by lush green pathways. It is popular as picnic spot for locals as well the tourists.
3. Lotus Temple:
This temple is located in New Delhi. It is a beautiful white structure which looks like a lotus and unfolds its petals. It is visited by people from all around the world especially the followers of Baha’i faith. This temple was designed by a Canadian architect Fariborz Sabha and was completely built in 1986. It is visited by people from all around the world irrespective of their religion, cast, gender, race etc. There are only seven Baha’i houses in the world and lotus temple is one of them. Famous for its beautiful entrance and enchanting Gate, it is famous among tourists and is a must place to visit if you are in Delhi. There is a beautiful path which is surrounded by lush greenery which makes it look even more beautiful. People from all around the word come here and chant their religious scriptures.
It is a huge temple which attracts people from all around the world especially the Hindus. Akshardham means the divine abode of God and the entire place is known for its spirituality. The entire temple has a huge Garden, a Mandir and an Exhibition of over 200 sculptures or murtis which are exhibited there. They make it nothing but beautiful.
