The History:

This city was established by Rao Jodha in the year 1459 who was from Rathore clan. He, keeping the safety of the city in mind, settled it on a hilltop. He also started construction of a huge fort in 1459 which was later completed by Maharaja Jaswant Singh and popularly known as Mehrangarh Fort.

1. Jaswant Thada:

It is often known as one of the most captivating white marble structure and is known for its intricate carvings. It was built by Maharaja Singh for the memorial of his father Maharaja Jaswant Singh in 1899. Some people call it the Taj Mahal of Marwar and is a symbol of Rajputana architecture in the bygone era. The beauty of the structure is simply indescribable.

The memorial of Maharaja Jaswant Singh is a temple-like structure and has portraits of different rulers of Jodhpur decorated there. This beautiful heritage is visited by people from all around the country and world.

This palace is also referred to as Chittar Palace. This place is now divided into various areas which are used as hotel, museum and the Royal residence of Maharaja. It is one of the most famous and exquisite hotels of Jodhpur and offers all the modern facilities with the hint of ancient royalty.

3. Mahamandir Temple:

This temple is located on the road of Mandore is a tall majestic temple with fine and unique architectural design. It is built of around 84 pillars which are engraved with beautiful designs and perfection of artistry. The art of stone one can see here is simply unmatchable across the globe.

4. Sardar Samand Lake:

This lake is located to the south-east of the city of Jodhpur and at around 60 km. It offers a peaceful sight to the visitors. The visitors can also view different migratory birds here during the winter days. If you are in searc of Nirvana, this is a place to visit. This place makes one come close to nature and is a peaceful place to visit for a change.

5. Baba Ramdev Temple:

This temple is located in between the Nagori and Jalori gates on the Masuria Hill. It is an ancient shrine which is also known by the name Adhar Shila Temple. It is a great attraction for the devotees as they gather to offer prayers every year.

Stairs were later constructed for the devotees or visitors so that they can reach the temple with convenience.

6. Phool Mahal:

Also known as Flower Palace is a huge tourist attraction here. It was built by Maharaja Abhaya Singh in the 18th century. Nowadays it is turned in a hotel, but the marvellous look of the palace is still intact. One can have some quality time here.

How to reach:

This city is well-connected to other parts of the nation by air, rail, and roadways. There is a domestic airport in the city from where one can catch the flight for metro cities of India. Many northern railway trains pass through this city which one can catch to reach here. The roads are also much better, and hence one can move with the help of state transport buses, private buses or even by car.
